Happy Yule!

Yule is the Midwinter holiday, observed on the winter solstice. It usually falls on December 21 and is the longest night of the year. Believe it or not, from this point onwards the days will be getting longer. For Pagans, this is the celebration of the return of the light. The Goddess has just given birth to the infant God and is resting from her yearlong toil. The young God will continue to grow, heralding the return of the sun. The Oak King has done battle with the Holly King and emerged victorious. From now until Midsummer, the Oak King will rule as the year waxes back toward summer.
