Hello! I’m Patricia. I’m 36 years old, live squished into a one bedroom apartment, work as a clerk in an engineering office, I write, and I read. My balcony looks like a miniature forest, I like to go to second-hand shops and antique stores, and I love cats. I also spend way too much time on the internet but that is more a benefit to you readers than a fault. It’s less of a benefit to my poor eyes but I’ve never let that stop me. I’m a Pagan and a witch and I’m active in my community. I’m locked in an eternal struggle with my weight and my body’s weird hormone issues. Oh, and I of course love books!

human-rights-campaign-logoI’m an eclectic reader and will read pretty much anything fiction. You can expect to find on this blog middle grade, young adult, adult, and erotica books. Everything will be labeled, so please browse at your discretion. I am not responsible for your delicate sensibilities if you read something that offends you. I read LGBT books and I support equal rights.

My cat, Fiona. She’s a brat and has a habit of biting when playing that I can’t seem to break her of.

Posts are as I see fit. I’m not going to drive myself nuts trying to post every day. I’ll post when I have something to post. I’m the only author for this blog, I don’t have a partner, so please be patient if you don’t see as many book reviews as you would wish. I will catch up. Who knows, I occasionally find that book that is so good I finish it in a single evening.

  1. You’re a practicing witch? Wow that’s so interesting! Pagan…would that be as in Wicca? I get a little fuzzy on the details. 🙂

    • Patricia @ Lady with Books

Yes and no. Wiccans are Pagans but not all Pagans are Wiccans. There are a lot of religions that fall under the Paganism umbrella and some that don’t identify their religion beyond just Pagan. It’s sort of like trying to follow a very confusing, very detailed tree map. I myself am not a Wiccan and call myself simply Witch.

      • Ahh right I see, I think I understand. 🙂 I wish more fiction books were based on the actual practices of the real religions rather than Harry Potter stuff (although I still love the Harry Potter made up stuff) I just find the whole thing so fascinating and it’s difficult to find out about it.
If you don’t mind me asking….did you come across it yourself or does the practice run in your family? Don’t worry if you don’t want to answer though! It’s okay. 🙂

        • Patricia @ Lady with Books

Ask away. I don’t mind. I welcome it. I’m not a hereditary witch, meaning that the practice doesn’t run in my family. My life choices mostly just confuse my family. I had always been fascinated by witches as a child, even when my only exposure to the concept of a ‘witch’ was as an evil fairytale character. It was in my teens and the beginning of the explosion of information that is the world wide web that I discovered witchcraft was an actual reality, albert one that looks nothing like the movies. I read and dabbled in my teens, got serious in my twenties, and finally felt comfortable enough to join my local Pagan community in the past 5 or 6 years. I learned a lot by going out and meeting other Pagans, probably more than the books taught me. I learned to differentiate between legitimate witchcraft practice and utter bullshit. It’s a skill that any witch or Pagan needs when navigating their path. I discovered that magic, or as I see it using your will to influence the flow of energy in nature, was possible and that I could become the figure that I had always been so enthralled by as a child. The rest, as they say, is history.

  2. i’ve nominated you for two blog awards http://wp.me/p3v5T1-7Y

  3. Hey, are you still blogging? It looks like you haven’t posted anything since March. I just wanted to say that I only just stumbled across your blog, but it looks really cool and I think you have a good thing going. You review the sorts of books I like to read. Are you going to post again, by any chance?
